Bruce Barkett is an AV-rated lawyer who began practicing in 1979 in Tallahassee as an Assistant Attorney General handling civil rights and environmental litigation. He became Assistant General Counsel for the Department of Natural Resources in 1984. He later joined the Indian River County Attorney’s office and handled land use, planning-and-zoning, eminent domain, and other matters. He has been with Collins Brown Barkett, Chartered since 1987. His practice includes real estate transactional work; land use, planning and zoning approvals; and contract, business, and general civil matters. He has also been certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a circuit mediator, and maintains an active mediation practice, focusing on real estate, contract, and other circuit civil disputes.

Mr. Barkett is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit; the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals; the Florida Supreme Court and all State appellate and trial courts in Florida.

Mr. Barkett is the former Town Attorney for the Town of Orchid; Past President of The Indian River County Bar Association; Past President of the Real Property Council of Indian River County; Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Environmental Learning Center; Former Chancellor of Trinity Episcopal Church; and past Commissioner on the Florida Inland Navigation District.
