Our firm has been part of Vero Beach since 1974 — small enough that everyone here knows everyone, established enough to handle the legal matters that are most important to our clients.  Our firm cares about our clients and our team of professional staff. If you are looking for a place where your colleagues have your back and your work does not go unnoticed, we would like to meet you.
Collins Brown Barkett, Chartered has served individuals, families, businesses, and organizations throughout Indian River County and the Treasure Coast since 1974. In five decades we have built our reputation the slow way — one client, one matter, one referral at a time.
Building our solid reputation was possible because of our outstanding team of professionals. Our attorneys and professional staff handle work that carries real weight in our clients’ lives, and they do it with preparation, care, and a steadiness that clients rely on.
We would love to hear from you. Take a look at the open positions below, then choose Apply for This Position under the role that fits — it will take you to the application form at the bottom of the page.
Our Trusts & Estates department is growing, and we are looking for an experienced paralegal to join us in Vero Beach. If you have spent years in estate planning, probate, and trust administration and you are ready for a firm where your judgment is trusted, your questions are always welcome, and your work genuinely matters to the families we serve, we would like to meet you.
We are looking for a Florida-licensed attorney who wants real ownership of their cases. At Collins Brown Barkett, Chartered, you would carry your own caseload and be the person your clients rely on — with experienced colleagues alongside you to offer guidance.
We are looking for someone motivated, a strong researcher and writer, and comfortable being the point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other advisers. If you are ready to take full responsibility for a client’s case, you will have the room to do it, and the support to do it well.
We are looking for a responsible Legal Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Duties of the Legal Assistant include providing support to our Attorneys and Paralegals, assisting in daily office needs. Legal Assistant responsibilities include preparing reports communicating with clients, other attorneys, and the Court, drafting Court documents, coordinating schedules and appointments, and maintaining appropriate filing systems.
We are a collaborative firm, and we mean that in the everyday sense: doors stay open, questions get answered, and no one is expected to figure it out alone. Attorneys and staff work side by side on the same matters, and the person who knows the answer is usually a few steps down the hall.
We are also a small enough team that your work is seen. When you handle something well, people notice. When you are ready to take on more, there is room for it.
Our clients count on us to be prepared and to get the details right. We look for people who take real pride in their work and would rather do something properly than do it fast.
People bring us their hardest problems. Everyone here — attorney and staff alike — handles that information with the care it deserves. It is the foundation everything else rests on.
No two clients arrive with the same situation. We take the time to understand the needs of our clients, and we look for colleagues who pay attention the same way.
Good legal work is a team effort. We value people who communicate clearly, follow through, and pitch in when a colleague needs help.
This community is our home. We live here, raise our families here, and show up for the community we serve. Our roots in Indian River County run deep, and we are glad they do.
