Mr. Lawn is an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest rating bestowed upon an attorney by his peers. He was raised in Miami, Florida. He attended law school in Los Angeles, California where he clerked for Justice Edwin Beach of the California Court of Appeal. Mr. Lawn returned to Miami and began clerking for the Supreme Court of Florida, The Florida Bar. Mr. Lawn then entered private practice with a focus on matters involving taxation. Additionally, Mr. Lawn served as a Special Referee for the State of South Carolina, hearing civil matters brought before the State’s Circuit Courts, and was an Adjunct Instructor at both Coastal Carolina College and St. Leo College.

In 1980, Mr. Lawn was admitted to the Florida Bar. In 1981, he was admitted to the South Carolina Bar. In 1988, he was admitted to the Washington, DC Bar. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court (South Carolina), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Lawn is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Mr. Lawn was 1) President (2007-2008), a Member of Board (2005-2009), and current Member of the Indian River Estate Planning Council; 2) a member of VNA / Hospice of Indian River Planned Giving Committee; 3) Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs Foundation of Indian River County; 4) an Advisory Board Member (former Trustee) of the Atlantic Challenge 1998-2004; 5) Former Treasurer and member of the board of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra (2009-2011); 6) Member of the Advisory Board of the Vero Art Museum Planned Giving Committee; 6) Member of the Indian River Community Foundation Professional Advisors Council (inception to present); 7) Member of the Indian River County Bar Association (2004 to present); and former Board member of the World Affairs Council (1999- 2004).
